Dasajo was craned over the house on the 2nd of November 2007. It was not quite finished as I had to build a mast and boom and the main turret hatch windows needed to be finished off, but other than that she had taken just over 2years and 6 weeks of part time building to put in the water. My wife was the unsung hero as we had 3 children under 7 by this stage. taking the temporary shed down and cleaning the yard took the next couple of weeks with a few trailer loads going to the dump.

Arranging to have the boat lifted and transported was much easier than i anticipated however the list of jobs that needed to be finsihed before the day just kept on growing. when the crane driver arrived he informed me that he wasn’t covered to lift the boat over other houses so he wouldn’t be doing that and then proceeded to swing it over the neighbours roof anyway. moments like that make you think about the ratios you used to mix resin carefully. She went in at 2.8 ton from memory and floated nice and high on her waterlines.

A massive thank you to my dad and father in law who helped get through a mountain of work in the week leading up to the boat being craned over the house.

Anywhere a screw or hole penetrated the timber had been drilled out oversize filled with epoxy and redrilled or screwed so that moisture ingress into timber was eliminated.

Driving the boat into the marina for the first time was nerve-wracking as the boat felt very large and the marina berth very small with lots of other expensive boats to attempt not to hit.
