The 8.5 m Powercat was awesome and amazing but also a good hour or so of work to get it ready to launch and clean up. In my heart i wanted a day tripper boat for spearfishing out of and maybe some night fishing as well. after a ton of research i came across a designer called Murray Isles from Tasmania who had a set of plans for a 5.7m asymmetric hulled catamaran called a Javacat.
Having asymmetric hulls meant that I could run with a single motor as you get less wash down the tunnel allowing cleaner water to feed into a single engine cat. I took a very relaxed build time with this boat

tunnel clearance

drop in fuel tanks spaces

Santa's little helper

spray chine to force water away from the hull

not a lot of clearance here

guide coat applied for flat fair hulls

i love a sexy curve

aluminium trailer heck yeah, cheap to build and 0 corrosion issues down the track

basic trailer frame welded together

on the trailer ready to get the motor installed

the boat that resurrected my boating in cairns, this hull was purchased from the dump for $50, i spent 3 weekends rebuilding it, 1 to cut the transom floor and stringer out and then 2 very full weekends rebuilding it all out of ply. this boat went everywhere and did everything...

finished boat out at the reef

i built her with spearing in mind hence the flat decks everywhere
