Underwater hockey holidays

Who needs a reason to go on a holiday? Well if you’re like me then you love taking mini holidays meeting new friends with similar interests and doing things in other places that you don’t normally do.

This is where underwater hockey holiday tourism comes in. Generally speaking the underwater hockey crew are super friendly and have a multitude of interests outside of the greatest sport ever that consumes their lives weeknights. One of my friends in Canberra plays Icehockey, white water paddles and goes rock climbing, another in Tassie is into surfing diving and windsurfing, another in nz is a die hard spearfisherman and can put you onto the most amazing fish crayfish and scallops you have ever seen. Another in Brisbane is into four wheel driving and hunting, One of our cairns players is into hangliding and flying whilst others are into skydiving. I’m sure some of my hockey friends are also into the less adventurous things but hey im an adventurous person and love to hear and try out new things.

Every destination has the list of goto things the locals know about that the tourists never get to hear about or do and that’s where underwater hockey holidays come in. The savvy hockey player books a few days either side of the comp they are attending and then checks with the local players about what cool things they can do in the local area. Sometimes the hosts take time off to play tour guide sometimes they don’t but getting the low down is the important part.

If you are even smarter you will get your kids into underwater hockey so that they drag you along on their underwater hockey holidays but that’s another conversation…

So far Uwh has taken me on a wild holiday to Quebec, Manila, Perth, Woolongong, NewZealand and this year Darwin which is going to be awesome…. Along the way I have eaten fresh scallops off the back of a boat, harvested nz crayfish, hunted rabbits, pheasants and peacocks, milked cows, walked in exotic locations, been eyeball to eyeball whilst swimming with whales, watched my son shoot his first snapper, holidayed in America, Canada and the Phillipines.

Our next Cairns Comp which is a 2 day event at the start of May 2020 I will be taking a couple of days leave either side of the comp so that I can show any keen visitors who come just why Cairns is a great mini Underwater hockey holiday. On the intinerary will be the locals specials, there will be floating down rivers and rapids on airbeds, spearfishing at the reef, Digging up your very own semi precious gemstones, soaking in geothermal hotpools and crazy walks up rivers full of jungle perch to awesome waterfalls. Book in early to make sure you don’t miss out.

Thanks for making it to the bottom of the wall of text…
